The two best features about the Mio Stride are that you do have to clip the pedometer onto your clothes and the impulse rate monitor does not have to be strapped to your chest. This is good option for people who want all the features of a pedometer along with a means to monitor the heart rate monitoring which can be taken as a bonus.
Here are some of the features that are present in the Mio Stride:

o An activity monitor that not only counts steps but also estimates speed, distance and the calories that have been burned
o You can program upper and lower heart rate alerts
o The settings in the pedometer are adjustable
o Time and date
o Alarm, exercise timer and backlit display
o Water resistant for up to 50 meters
Just like most of the impulse rate monitors, you do have to read the instructions to understand how to operate the Mio. Although the setup is simple, you may need to keep the instructions handy until you learn about the various functions.
When you set up the Mio initially, you would have to enter information like your weight, gender, height and stride length. Once this is done, the device is all set for use. In the screen, navigate to the pedometer mode and then press the start button. Occasionally check your impulse rate by putting your index and middle fingers to the leads that are present on either side of the Mio. The heart rate is displayed after a few seconds. But make sure that the watch is close to your wrist to get a good reading.
The device is extremely easy to use, especially the basic functions. For more complex functions of the heart rate monitor and pedometer, you would need some practice. The Mio does take some time to start counting the steps but once you are on your way, you can be assured to get an accurate reading.
The Mio is good for walking but not for workout as it does not give a continuous reading. If you want to check your impulse rate, you would have to stop your workout to do so. Although the device is huge, the band that goes around the wrist is thick and stiff. This can be slightly uncomfortable.
Nonetheless, it is a good heart rate monitor and pedometer. It is not too expensive and you can pick up one $69 to $80.
